About Dr. Doug Hammond
An accomplished periodontist with many years of experience in the field, Dr. Doug Hammond currently works in private practice in Huntsville, Alabama. He specializes in a wide range of procedures and treatments that help patients achieve optimal oral health and improve the aesthetics of their smiles. Dr. Doug Hammond has extensive experience with cosmetic enhancements, treatments and procedures for various periodontal diseases and conditions, I.V. sedation surgery, and dental implants. His office uses digital X-rays and cone-beam computed tomography to provide clear, detailed images of the mouth, which allows Dr. Hammond to diagnose issues and assess treatment options with greater precision.
Before beginning his career as a periodontist, Dr. Doug Hammond received a bachelor of science in chemistry from Auburn University, where he graduated with high honors. After completing his undergraduate studies, he earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. Dr. Hammond completed a one-year residency at the Veterans’ Administration Hospital in Birmingham before finishing his Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) in periodontics and oral pathology at Indiana University School of Dentistry. During his time as a master’s student, he wrote his thesis on the long-term effects of orthodontic treatment on periodontal health.
